A Little Faith, Family, and Grace Before the Holidays
By Brandi Bunn | Gran B’s Best Finds | November 3, 2026
November has a way of filling our calendars before we’ve decided how we want to spend our days. There are meals to plan, gifts to consider, gatherings to organize, and all the everyday responsibilities that don’t stop just because the holidays are coming.
I love this season. But as a wife, mom, and Gran B, I also want to leave room to enjoy the people I’m doing all that planning for.
My Christian faith and my experience as a Master Life Coach are important parts of who I am. This month, I’m bringing a little more of that heart here to Gran B’s Best Finds—alongside the family ideas, cozy touches, and thoughtful finds I love sharing.
Because a useful find can make life easier, and a little encouragement can help us decide what to do with the room it creates.
What Do You Want to Make Room For?
Before adding another task to your November list, take a moment to ask yourself:
“When this month is over, what will I be glad I made time for?”
Maybe it’s an unhurried conversation with your daughter. An afternoon with your grandchildren. A quiet morning with your Bible. Or finally sitting down with your husband without a phone or a to-do list between you.
There isn’t one right answer. Your priorities may look different from someone else’s, and they may change from season to season.
Try writing down three things you want to make room for this November. Keep them specific enough that you can act on them:
Spend a few quiet minutes in prayer before reaching for my phone.
Share one meal each week with fewer distractions.
Call someone I love and give the conversation my full attention.
Put those three things somewhere you’ll see them. When new commitments come along, let that little list help you decide what fits.
Give One Small Tradition a Place to Grow
Family traditions don’t have to require a shopping trip or an entire free weekend.
This month, you might invite everyone at dinner to share one thing they appreciated that day. Ask an older family member about a holiday memory and write it down. Let the children help prepare a favorite recipe—even if it takes longer and leaves a little more flour on the counter.
For little ones, gratitude can begin with simple questions:
Who helped you today? What made you smile? How could we show someone kindness tomorrow?
Those conversations give us a chance to listen, share our faith, and notice what’s happening in each other’s lives.
Choose one idea your family would enjoy and give it a try. It doesn’t need to become another obligation.
Leave a Little Breathing Room
One practical coaching exercise is to look at your week and ask:
“What could I simplify so I have more attention for what matters?”
Perhaps you serve an easy meal on a busy evening. Accept someone’s offer to bring a dish. Shorten an outing. Leave one afternoon open instead of filling every available space.
Sometimes simplifying means saying, “I’d love to help, but I can’t take that on this week.”
You can care deeply about people and still be honest about your time and energy. Giving yourself breathing room can help you show up with more patience and attention when you are together.
Thoughtful Finds That Support Your Priorities
Here at Gran B’s Best Finds, I’ll continue sharing things that serve a purpose in everyday family life. For this kind of month, that might be a simple journal for prayer and reflection, a calendar that keeps everyone informed, or a children’s Bible storybook to read together.
Start with what you already have. A notebook, a pen, and a few quiet minutes are enough for the exercise above.
When you do consider something new, ask: Will this help us do something we value? That’s a useful question whether you’re choosing a gift, a planner, or something for your home.
A Little Grace with Gran B
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
— Psalm 46:10, KJV
As we head into a busy season, I’m holding on to those words as an invitation to pause and remember who God is. I can bring Him my plans, my concerns, and the things I haven’t figured out yet.
A moment to reflect:
Where could you make a little space to be still with God this week?
One small step:
Choose five minutes to put your phone aside, pray, and consider your three priorities for November.
A simple prayer:
Lord, thank You for the people You have placed in my life. Help me recognize what needs my attention and what I can release. Give me wisdom with my time, patience with my family, and a grateful heart for the ordinary moments we share. Help me make room for You in the middle of it all. Amen.
Let’s Begin November with Intention
My family is my world, and being Gran B makes those everyday moments especially precious to me. As the holidays approach, I want to be present for them—and I hope this little encouragement helps you make room for your own.
What is one thing you want to make more time for this November? Share it in the comments. I’d love to hear what matters to you.
With love,
Brandi — Gran B
