A Little Space for Grace

Creating a Quiet Corner for Faith and Reflection

By Brandi Bunn | Gran B’s Best Finds

There’s almost always something asking for our attention. The laundry needs folding, the phone keeps lighting up, and even when we finally sit down, our minds can still be working through tomorrow’s list.

In “Making Room for What Matters,” we talked about choosing our priorities and leaving space for faith and family. Today, I want to take that thought a little further: What would it look like to make a small, welcoming space for time with God?

As a Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and Master Life Coach, I know how easily good intentions can get lost in a full schedule. Having your Bible and journal within reach can make it a little easier to pause and follow through.

This time, I’m sharing a different kind of find: Christian items that can support prayer, Bible reading, and meaningful moments with your family. You can begin with what you already own and add something thoughtful as your needs and budget allow.

Begin Where You Are

Your quiet corner might be a favorite chair beside a window, one end of the kitchen table, or a small spot beside your bed.

Choose somewhere comfortable, with enough light to read. Then gather the few things you want close: your Bible, a notebook, and a pen.

If your home is busy, give yourself permission to be flexible. Children may interrupt. Dinner may need your attention. Some days, your time for reflection may come in a few short moments rather than one uninterrupted stretch.

God hears your prayers in the middle of ordinary life, too.

A Place to Gather Your Essentials: Floral Scripture Storage Basket — $19.99

This cream-colored basket features flowers, encouraging words, and Scripture references. It offers a lovely place to gather your Bible, prayer journal, devotional, and pens.

Keep it beside your chair or carry your reading materials to wherever you’re settling in that day. It’s especially useful when your quiet corner shares space with everyday family life.

Let God’s Word Be Your Starting Point

Before choosing decorations, think about what will help you spend time reading Scripture.

The Bible you already own is a wonderful place to begin. If you’re considering a new one, look for a translation you understand comfortably and a print size that makes reading enjoyable.

Start with a short passage. Read slowly, consider the surrounding verses, and write down anything you want to understand more deeply. You can bring those questions to a trusted pastor, Bible-study leader, or mature Christian friend.

You don’t have to rush through a chapter to make your time worthwhile.

At the Heart of Your Quiet Corner: King James Version Bible — $29.29

This King James Version Bible features a brown cover with an intricate tree design. It’s an option for readers who appreciate the traditional language of the KJV, or a thoughtful gift for someone who prefers that translation.

Keep it within reach beside your journal, ready for the next time you sit down to read.

Make Room for Honest Prayers

Sometimes we sit down to pray and realize just how much we’ve been carrying.

A journal gives those thoughts somewhere to go. You might write a prayer for your children, a worry you’re struggling to release, something you’re grateful for, or a question about what you’ve read.

Your words can be simple. You don’t have to make them sound beautiful.

Try beginning with:

  • Lord, thank You for…

  • Today, I’m concerned about…

  • Please help me understand…

  • Someone I want to pray for is…

  • One way I can live out what I’ve read is…

Leave room to return to your entries. Over time, those pages may help you notice growth, remember God’s faithfulness, and see how your prayers have changed.

Here are two journal options at different price points.

A Scripture-Inspired Choice: “He Restores My Soul” Journal — $34.99

With “He restores my soul” and Psalm 23:3 on its cover, this journal offers a meaningful place for prayers, gratitude, Scripture notes, and personal reflections.

Keep it beside your Bible and begin with one honest sentence: “Lord, today I’m bringing You…”

A Lower-Priced Option: Tree-Design Journal — $9.99

This brown journal with an embossed tree design is another option for gathering your thoughts during prayer and Bible study.

You could begin each entry with the date and a Scripture reference, followed by a few lines about what you’re learning or praying through.

Choose the journal that fits your preferences and budget. A notebook you already have can serve this purpose, too.

Choose Reminders That Point Your Heart Toward Christ

A small cross or a meaningful piece of artwork can help make your corner feel personal.

Choose something that draws your attention toward God and reminds you why you’ve set aside this space. One carefully chosen piece may be all you want.

A Meaningful Touch: Wooden Cross with Dove Detail — $12.00

This wooden cross features a dove detail and warm wood tones. Display it near your reading spot as a reminder to pause, pray, and turn your attention toward God.

It could also make a thoughtful gift for someone creating a space for faith and reflection.

A Picture of His Care: Jesus and Lamb Wall Art — $31.99

This artwork depicts a lamb in the foreground with Jesus approaching behind it. The scene brings to mind Jesus’ words:

“I am the good shepherd.”
— John 10:11, KJV

Placed near your prayer space, it can serve as a visual reminder of Christ’s loving care.

Build a Rhythm You Can Return To

From a life-coaching perspective, one practical way to begin a habit is to connect it to something you already do.

You might read after making your morning coffee, pray during a lunch break, or write in your journal before turning out the light.

Choose a time that fits your life, then make the first step manageable. Here’s a simple rhythm to try:

  1. Pause. Put your phone aside and take a moment to settle.

  2. Read. Spend a few minutes with a short Bible passage.

  3. Reflect. Write down a thought, a question, or a way to respond.

  4. Pray. Bring your gratitude, concerns, and the needs of others to God.

Some days you’ll have more time. On other days, you’ll need to begin again after an interruption. If you miss a day, return when you can.

You’re building a practice you can carry into everyday life.

Leave Room for Little Ones

Your quiet corner can also become a place for shared faith.

Keep a Bible storybook nearby for a child or grandchild who wants to sit with you. Read together, welcome their questions, and finish with a simple prayer.

As Gran B, I love the thought of little ones growing up knowing they can bring their joys, worries, and questions to God—and talk about them with the people who love them.

Those conversations can begin with something as simple as, “What did you notice in that story?”

Faith to Share: The Biggest Story Bible Storybook — $19.54

The Biggest Story Bible Storybook, written by Kevin DeYoung and illustrated by Don Clark, is a colorful option for reading together.

A storybook can help open family conversations about the Bible. Take your time, let children ask questions, and turn to Scripture together as they grow in understanding.

Choose What Helps You Use the Space

You don’t need every item in this post to create a meaningful quiet corner.

Begin with your Bible and a place to sit. Then notice what would help: perhaps a journal for gathering your thoughts, a basket to keep everything together, or a cross that holds personal meaning.

Before buying, ask yourself:

“Will this support the time I want to spend here, and does it fit my budget?”

That’s the heart behind Gran B’s Best Finds: thoughtful items that serve a purpose in real family life.

A Little Grace with Gran B

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
— Psalm 46:10, KJV

These words come from a psalm about God’s presence and power amid trouble. As we make space for prayer, they invite us to remember who He is—even when our surroundings or circumstances feel unsettled.

A question to reflect on:
What tends to pull your attention away from time with God, and what small change could help you return to it?

One step for this week:
Choose your spot, place your Bible there, and decide when you’ll spend a few minutes reading and praying. You can begin before buying a single thing.

A prayer for your quiet corner:

Lord, thank You for meeting us in the middle of ordinary life. Help us make time to read Your Word, bring You our concerns, and remember Your goodness. Give us understanding as we read and wisdom to live out what we learn. Let the time we spend with You shape how we care for our families and the people around us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Whether your space is a cozy chair or one end of the kitchen table, I hope it becomes somewhere you’re glad to return to—a place to read, pray, ask questions, and grow in faith.

Do you have a favorite place to read your Bible or pray? What helps you make time for it? Share in the comments—I’d love to hear.

With love,
Brandi — Gran B
